The discovery of fragments of texts on the life of Jesus not included in the official Christian Bible were a sensation in 1945. Parts of an unknown gospel credited to Thomas were part of this sensational discovery of a collection of scriptures at Nag Hammadi in northern Egypt in 1945, collectively known as the Gnostic Gospels.

As one of the first, Osho comments in detail on the Gospel of Thomas in a series of talks called The Mustard Seed, bringing a modern understanding to this text . This inspiring book grants us profound insights into the truly universal nature of Jesus’ original teachings. We learn about the missing years in Jesus life and his time in Egypt and India, learning from Egyptian secret societies, then Buddhist schools, then Hindu Vedanta and how these influences made him a stranger to the Jews.

The Jesus revealed here is not the Jesus preserved in the teachings of orthodoxy, but the Gnostic Jesus, who turns upside down our preconceptions about ourselves and the world.
